Tagged

I was tagged on each of my blogs! This time, I was tagged by Hannah Elise.

Rules:
1) You must answer the eleven questions the tagger has given you and make eleven questions for the people you are going to tag.
2) Next, tag eleven more bloggers.
3) Tell the people you have tagged that you tagged them.
4) No tagging back!

Her 11 questions:

1.  Have you ever had a book signed by an author you love? If so, what was the book and who was the author?  No, I haven't.
2.  Do you see a point in watching football on Super Bowl Sunday, or do you think next weekend is just another "eating day"?  I love watching football, especially the Super Bowl. My church usually records it during the service, then we watch it upstairs afterwards.
3.  What is your favorite version of the movie "Emma"? And if you've read the book, which one do you think matched it closest?  I've never seen nor read "Emma."
4.  What is something you recently discovered, or rediscovered, that you are loving? Please elaborate.  I've actually discovered my love for writing long fiction compositions. I didn't really like to write long things when I was younger, but I decided to pick up on a few writing contests and such.
5.  What was the last word you read that you didn't know the definition of and looked up in the dictionary (which was very commendable!)?  I have no clue what it was, but I do remember that I looked up a word several weeks back.
6.  Are you, like so many, aspiring to write a novel? If you've aspired, have you started? If you've started, have you finished? If you've finished, have you revised? If you've revised, have you published? If you've published, have you sold? (So this is kind of a surveyish thing.)  Yes. I've started at least five. I've finished two, and am diligently working on my third. One that I have finished (because I actually liked the way it turned out), I have revised. It is also now on amazon.com. Just search for "Hafling Diaries." I've sold two so far (my brother actually, and his future father-in-law).
7.  Have you ever studied a second language at at least the first-year level?  Yes, I have. Ich habe Deutsch studiert seit ungefähr einem Jahr alle zusammen.  (I've studied German for about one year all together.)
8.  Do you think the genres of fantasy and science fiction are completely unnecessary?  I think there is a slight difference between fantasy and science fiction. When I think of fantasy, I think of fairies and dragons. When I think of science fiction, I think of Star Wars and Star Trek.
9.  What are your thoughts on the popular teen fiction nowadays? (e.g., The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Matched by Ally Condle, The Maze Runner by James Dashner, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling.)  Well,  I've never read any of those, and I don't really plan to. I'm not a big fan of Harry Potter because I don't really like the ideas of teaching wizardry and witchcraft. I believe they go against what the Bible says.
10.  Have you ever started a reading list? If so, how far did you get (or have you gotten)?  I've never had an official one, but I have set my mind to finishing a few series, such as Left Behind, Series of Unfortunate Events, and Dragon Keeper.
11.  What is the greatest talent God has given you?  I would have to say my ability to learn musical instruments and increase on my abilities on the individual instruments. I've been playing piano since I was six, and violin since I was almost twelve. I've also taken up guitar, organ, and accordion, for starts.

I've been tagged once, so I'll just list a few of the people I've tagged, and the questions I asked them. But I will choose a few different people and questions this time.

1.  Katlyn
2.  Hannah
3.  Kara
4.  Kara Klarabelle Siert
5.  Abigail
6.  Uniquely Natalie
7.  Journey
8.  Kaylee Jane

3.  Have you ever flown (commercially, privately)?
4.  How old were you when you had your first crush?
5.  Star Wars or Star Trek?
6.  RANDOM  What's your favorite pen or marker brand?

9.  What is your favorite animal?  Um, I like snakes, but I also like horses.
10.  What is your favorite thing to do?  Reading and writing.

My new blog design!

Hi! What do y'all think of my new blog design? Britt designed the header and button for me. She did a great job.

Monday

Girls' Devos January 21

So, last night, I went to a public Christian retreat at a local camp.
This morning, we woke up at 7. At around 7:45, one of my best friends (who was one of the girls' dorm chaperons) gave a devotional from Proverbs 31 to me, my sister, and two of our friends. It really spoke to my heart.
She talked about how rare a truly virtuous woman is; she's rarer than the rarest gem of all: the ruby. She talked about how the virtuous woman is trustworthy to everybody, she's not afraid of hard work, she thinks of others before herself, and she doesn't want her family to be in want of anything. The way my friend worded it, it was so easy to understand and it literally almost made me cry.
Then she went on to talk about how important it is to wait for the right guy to come into your life; how your heart should be held by your father until the right guy comes along; and how if a guy isn't willing to go by God's, your father's, and your standards for dating and such, he probably isn't the right one. (This is one reason why any guy that wants to date me has to ask my father first.)
The lessons she taught just really spoke to my heart. And if you ever read this, Randee, I want to say thank you for what you said; it really touched me!

For those of you who haven't seen it already, I've got a new blog! I started it back on January 2. I designed it myself. What do you think? Here's the button:

My flying

Two years ago this April, I joined the local glider* club. I was just the minimum age for joining the local club. By eighteen months of membership, I had flown over 100 times, with over 6 hours of flight time. On August 15, 2012, for the first time, my flight instructor climbed out of the back seat of the glider and left me to fly on my own. I was the minimum age for soloing. That day was amazing! I haven't done much flying in these winter months, mainly for two reasons: one, the weather has just not been good; two, my instructor was gone in Europe. (You see, I can't fly unless there is a certified instructor either in the air with me or on the ground.) Once spring and better weather have kicked back in, I'll probably be in the air again, and more often.

* - For those of you who don't know what a glider is, I'll explain it to you. A glider is very similar to an airplane. It's not one of those hang gliders you see in the movies; gliders are shaped very similar to regular planes. Only, this is no ordinary plane; a glider has no engine. It has to be towed up to altitude by some powered mechanism, whether it be another airplane (called a tow plane for obvious reasons), a winch, (in Texas in some places) a truck, (or even in some mountainous parts of Europe) or people pulling it down a slope. Some gliders, though, are built with motors.

Wednesday

YBAC

Last Friday, at my piano lesson, my teacher gave me some info about an upcoming music competition: the Young Baroque Artist Competition. He asked me if I was interested in entering, and I said that I was; and I am! I'm super excited about it. The top three contestants each get quite a large monetary prize and an opportunity to play in a Bach concert!
If you don't know what baroque music is like, just think about Bach, Vivaldi, Pachelbel, Handel, and Scarlatti: they were all baroque era. Anything at the time of and after Mozart is NOT baroque, so no Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Clementi, Mozart, Dvorak, Brahms, etc.
Here is a list of the pieces I will be playing hopefully:

Prelude and Fugue 15 in G Major WTC II Bach, JS
Solfeggietto in C Minor Bach, CPE
Prelude and Fughetta in G Major WTC II Appendix III Bach, JS

This is my entry for Hannah's photo entry at Designed to Inspire! I would have posted this earlier, but my camera was stolen then recovered.

Design entry

Here's my entry for Storyteller's book cover design challenge! Hope you all like it.

Last night's music

My family and I had dinner at my youth pastor's house last night. We had pizza and salad for dinner, with ice cream for dessert. After dinner, Mrs. G (youth pastor's wife) told us stories about her family's history in Canada. Eventually, most of us gravitated to the Clavinova keyboard. Because it was getting late, the two younger children went to bed. I ended up sitting at the keyboard, playing songs from Zelda, Super Mario, Castlevania, Tetris, and The Sting. It was a little difficult because I wasn't sitting on the bench and my shoulders were scrunched up. But, most of all, we had a lot of fun playing around with video game music.

Monday

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog, The Flight of Music! Thanks for stopping by. This is where I will post about my flying experiences and accomplishments and my music achievements. Hope you enjoy it!

Prologue to my next novel!

Prologue

“Have you found anything? Any trace at all?”

“No, my lord. We have again failed to find any trace of her. I doubt we'll ever see the princess again. She's been missing for more than ten years. If I may say so, my king, I think this search has gone on long enough. We're never going to find her.”

The king stood from his throne. “I don't care if it's been ten thousand years! I want my daughter back. We're going to continue searching for –” The king abruptly stopped. He clutched at his heart in pain, and he collapsed on the floor.

The queen rushed to her unconscious husband's side. “Get the doctors immediately,” she ordered, cradling the king's head. “It's going to be alright, my love. We're going to find her, I promise.” Where could my little angel be? the queen thought.

Thursday

New polls!

Now that the six polls that were previously in my sidebar are over, I have taken the winner of each one and created the final "round" to get some names for my new novel (title TBD). Please vote in the two polls in the sidebar, because they end in a few days.
