Kara posted this on her blog from another blog about what a Liebster Award is:
What is a Liebster Award? Well, the word liebster is German literally meaning dearest or favorite. The award recognizes new and upcoming bloggers with less than 200 followers who deserve some kind of recognition and support for their contribution.
There are some rules about it, though. It's not all fun and games. Here they are:
1) Each person must list 11 things about themselves.
2) Answer the 11 questions that the tagger has set for you PLUS you MUST create 11 questions of your own for the 11 people you will nominate with this award.
3) Choose up to 11 bloggers linking them to your post.
4) Go to their page and inform them of the nomination.
5) Absolutely NO tag backs.
6) Remember to ONLY tag bloggers with less than 200 followers
So, the 11 things about me:
1.) I've never gone to any kind of school outside my home.
2.) I am originally from the East Coast.
3.) I LOVE Lord of the Rings trilogy.
4.) My IQ is 123.
5.) I LOVE Immanuel's Veins by Ted Dekker.
6.) I've read over 10 multi-book series.
7.) I've read over 125 individual books.
8.) I play a multitude of instruments, including piano, violin, accordion, mandolin, guitar, organ, and a little bit of flute.
9.) I want to learn clarinet.
10.) I LOVE Hangman's Curse and Nightmare Academy by Frank Peretti.
11.) My favorite books of the Bible are Esther, Ruth, and Revelation.
The 11 questions Kara asked me, and my answers:
"If
you could visit any place in the world where would you go?" Um, I guess I
would go to Germany, the land of my ancestry. My Oma was born there.
Some famous people that I'm a descendant of were born and raised there
(aka the Grimm Brothers). It's also the land of
some of my favorite composers.
"look to the left of you-what do you see?" I see my front door and some of my older sister's stuff.
"When did you start blogging?" I started my blog about two months ago. It was a little confusing at first, but I've gotten the hang of it.
"Look out the window closest to you-what do you see?" I see - through my front door - trees, bean fields, and the local highway.
"What blog inspires you?" Um, I'd have to say, Saved by Grace and Reflections of Grace.
"What is your funniest vacation memory?" Well, I'd have to say that it was when my entire family - with all my siblings and my niece - went to one of our favorite restaurant. Someone had gotten a lemon with their tea or water, and decided to give it to my year-old niece. The face she made was hilarious!
"What was one time you were so embarrassed?" Oh, uh, well, this is really embarrassing. It was almost four years ago, when my church was holding a Super Bowl party after an evening service. One of the 8th grade boys was my crush, and I accidentally said to him, "This has nothing to do with me liking you." Oops... And everyone in the small upper room heard it.
"Do you like Pinterest or Face Book better?" I wouldn't know because I have neither. But I would have to say Face Book.
"What is the best book you've ever read?" Hm, toughy. I've read many books and book series, and I honestly can't say. But I absolutely loved the Dragon Keeper Chronicles by Donita K. Paul, Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, and Christy Miller Collection by Robin Jones Gunn.
"have you ever met a favorite singer, actor, or someone important?" Well, I've received mail from famous people. I had to do a research paper on ghost towns and write a letter to a governor of a western state to find out more about the ghost towns in his state. I chose Wyoming, and I got a ton of stuff, even a personally-signed letter from the governor himself. I've also received a few cards from Harrison Ford (aka Indiana Jones) because I was part of a flight club that he was president of.
"have you ever been on a mission trip?" No, I haven't. My dad said that when I'm going into / in 11th grade. I'm going into 9th grade at the moment. So, not for two years yet.
